trying to download HP Smart from the Microsoft app store. Keep getting error message ox80073CFB. Have tried resetting network and reinstalling windows 10 media (keeping files and apps), but neither worked. Still getting same error message. Tried to find printer driver software without going through app store, but am always redirected to app store. so I cannot connect the printer

Hi @RichardJAmos,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing difficulty with installing HP Smart from the Microsoft Store and encountering error code 0x80073CFB. This error code typically indicates an issue with the Microsoft Store app or the installation process. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Clear Microsoft Store Cache:

  • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type wsreset.exe and press Enter. This will reset the Microsoft Store cache.

Check Windows Update:

  • Ensure that your Windows 10 is up to date with the latest updates.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates."

Run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Click on "Windows Store Apps" and run the troubleshooter.

Re-register Microsoft Store:

  • Open PowerShell as an administrator. Right-click on the Start button, select "Windows PowerShell (Admin)."
  • Enter the following command and press Enter:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Check Date and Time Settings:

  • Ensure that your system date and time are set correctly.

After performing these steps, try installing HP Smart again from the Microsoft Store.

If the issue persists, consider downloading the HP Smart app directly from the official HP website instead of the Microsoft Store. Here are the steps.

  1. Go to the HP Smart download page: HP Smart - HP Support.
  2. Click on the "Download" button to download the HP Smart app.
  3. Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the HP Smart app.

After installing the app, you should be able to set up and connect your HP Deskjet 2800e printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
