Observation - based on having read other reports of the issue in the Community

The underlying cause of the problem might to be something related to the Microsoft Store - perhaps how it's responding to the File System (Windows) or perhaps the health and condition of the Store application itself.

Some Ideas

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Update Store Apps

Sounds odd, but even the store needs to update on occasion.

If that is the case, or if other applications need to be updated,

Open the store and run "Get Updates"

Check / Update applications in / from the Microsoft Store

Windows key > Open the Tile for Microsoft Store

If necessary, sign into the store

Click on “See more”  (three horizontal dots )

Select Downloads and Updates

Click Get Updates

Windows Updates / Check for Updates

  • Make sure your Windows Updates in current and installed.
    •  Update Windows 10
    • Repeat until no further updates are found / installed.
    • If any updates are installed, Restart the computer and log in

Re-register the Microsoft Store

Forced Restart

If you are using Fast Start...

then

  1. Switch off Fast Start and then shut down the computer.
  2. Switch on the system and wait for it start completely - log in.
  3. Check for any difference, that is, try opening the Microsoft Store and installing the offending application.

How-to Instructions

Forced Restart / Boot

  1. Unplug everything, including power and all other externally connected components
  2. Press and hold down the power button for thirty (30) to forty (40) seconds
  3. Release the power button
  4. Plug in only basic components needed to start / boot the computer

  • Desktop:  Connect Power, wired mouse and keyboard, HDMI to monitor (and monitor is powered on).  Make sure Power is properly connected and all the way plugged in on both wall and machine.
  • Notebook:  Connect AC Power.  Make sure Power properly connected and is all the way plugged in on both wall and machine.
  1. Switch on the system with power button - Click power and release (as for normal boot)

Hoped for Results:

  • System switches on, monitor active, mouse and keyboard responsive

When the system reboots,

  1. Log in
  2. Connect LAN (Ethernet)
  3. Connect other components (USB, external webcam, speakers...)
  4. General housekeeping (checks, more staring at it)

Printing – Network Discovery (see and share printer on your network)

This is not directly related to the situation - the setup takes only a short time to check / adjust.

Verify / Switch-on Network discovery and File and Printer sharing:

Control Panel > icon view > Network and Sharing Center

Change  advanced sharing settings

Beneath Private (current profile) >

Network Discovery

Select Turn on network discovery

Check Turn on automatic setup of network connected devices

File and printer sharing

Select Turn on file and printer sharing

HomeGroup Connections

Select Allow windows to manage homegroup connections (recommended)

Save Changes
