HP Deskjet D1660
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I recently switched computers, from Windows 7 to Windows 7 professional, and I seem to be having issues installing my HP Deskjet D1660 as well as my scanner, a HP Scanjet G4010. Both have given me the same problems.

When I plugged in my Deskjet, my PC attempted to install the drivers through the usb. It reconizes it as a device, but was unable to install any drivers. I then downloaded the basic installer for the Deskjet (DJ_SF_06_D1600_NonNet_Basic_Win_WW_140_175.exe) and followed the prompts.

The installer never gets far, and early on I get a message screen for the System Requirement Results, stating that my computer is missing USB Drivers and USB Hardware. I've had the exact same result when I tried installing my Scanjet.

The screen looks like this:

And like this:

I've checked my registry and my USB is enabled, so I'm not entirely sure on the problem. I've also gone through the troubleshooting topics on the Deskjet's page. I've tried unplugging/replugging the USB cord from both the printer and the computer. I've made sure automatic updates is turned on. I've made sure all updates are installed. I've tried running the installer with virus protection turned off. I've tried running the installer with the firewalls turned off too. I've even gone through the Device Manager wizard to add the printer that way alonside the instructions on the troubleshooting page, but no dice.

I'm really just scratching my head on this one.

As for recent software or driver changes, I mean the computer is brand new. I've been slowly installing programs I'd used on my previous computer, but they've never interefered with the printer or scanner working previously.

I'm using a wireless internet connection.

Hi,
Click the Start button and type %temp% into the search bar, then open the shown Temp folder.

Open the latest HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7zs1234)
Open the Setup folder.
Locate the usbready.exe file and rename it into usbready.old.exe
Browse back to the main extraction folder (the folders who starts with 7z) and launch the Setup.exe file.

Now follow the installation and check for any difference.
