HP LaserJet Pro 200 color Printer M251nw

I've had this printer for years.  I changed my wireless network and the printer won't allow me access to change settings because I've forgotten a password that I set at least 8 years ago.  I would like to just reset this printer and start fresh but after literal hours of looking for a way to do that, I am completely frustrated.

Hi @Moggy1000,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Make sure the printer is powered off before you start the reset process.

Power On the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn on the printer.

Access the Service Menu:

  • While the printer is powering on, press and hold the "Cancel" button and the "Right Arrow" button simultaneously until the menu appears.

Factory Reset:

  • Navigate through the menu using the arrow buttons and locate “Service Menu.”
  • Find and select “Restore Defaults” or “Cold Reset” (the exact wording may vary).
  • Confirm the selection and allow the printer to reset to factory settings.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • After the reset is complete, go to the printer’s control panel.
  • Select “Setup” and then “Network Setup” to configure the new wireless network settings.

Re-enter Wireless Network Settings:

  • Follow the prompts to enter your new wireless network name (SSID) and password.
  • Once connected, you may need to install the latest printer drivers from HP’s official website.

I hope this helps.
