I cannot print an AutoCAD drawing at 1200 DPI. The maximum resolution is only 600 DPI. I specifically bought this printer for home use so that I can print in full color at high resolution and use 11"x17" paper. I went through the steps listed for another similar post that described similar issues, but I could not find any solution. The settings on  my printer are set for best quality and highest resolution. But still, only 600 DPI maximum resolution is output, whether I use letter size (8.5"x11") or tabloid size (11"x17").

I am not concerned about scanning resolution. Only the output print issues.

My printer driver uses PCL in its name. We had a similar issue at work where the PCL version of the print driver did not give satisfactory results. We used a PS version of the HP driver instead. I don't know if that applies here.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

According to your Printer specifications here: https://support.hp.com/my-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-7740-wide-format-all-in-one-printer-series/768...

Print resolution (best): Up to 4800 by 1200 optimized dpi on HP Advance Photo Paper 1200 by 1200 dpi input.

Try removing all the existing PCL drivers and other printer drivers and then installing the full feature software and drivers: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-7740-wide-format-all-in-one-printe...

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the response and the info.

Unfortunately, it did not work. I removed all printer drivers from my system, rebooted, and downloaded and installed the 175 MB complete full-feature driver, and the result is that the same PCL driver is the only one available, and it still only prints max 600x600 dpi. I have the settings and preferences set to 'Best' and 'Print in Max DPI' and still only 600 dpi.

I will have to do a little bit of research on this before I could provide you with additional help.

Will get back to you soon.

Thanks for understanding!

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:
