Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series, HP Pavilion
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We have two computers at our house. When one can print, the other one cannot. It will often act like it's loading the page to print, but will not actually print. If we reset the driver on the one not working, then it will work and the other one will not. It is not limited to file type.

We have an Arris Surfboard SB6910 modem and a Linksys router. There are two wifi networks (let's say "pj" and "pj5"). Typically the Dell is connected to the pj5 and the HP is connected to the pj. The printer is connected through the pj network. We thought that might be the issue, but the Dell was the one that worked more often. Now all computers are on the pj network and only the HP can print.

We have HP smart installed on both computers with the same account. And have reinstalled drivers over the weekend.

 To assist better -

What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?

Is the printer and computer on the same network?

Meanwhile,

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor specifically created to help with printer offline conditions.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

Let me know how this goes!

The blue WIFI light is on and steady. The red info light is on and steady.

They are on the same network right now. But they aren't always on the same wifi network. I have been able to print either way in the past. (It's the same modem and router but the router is dual band - so sometimes I'm on one network while the other computer and the printer are on the other.) I was able to print today from both networks (wifi and wifi5)

Microsoft just pushed through an update to my computer last night.  So there might've been an issue there. I'm going to wait a few days to see if this is resolved. Thanks.

The printer does not support a 5GHz network, and the printer and the computer must be on the same network to print.

Was the wifi direct on the printer?

Was the computer directly connected to the printer?

Hope this helps!

Let me know!
