Hi @Mrsjds,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble printing from a new iPad to an HP Envy 4501 printer, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Printer Connectivity:

  • Ensure that your HP Envy 4501 printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPad.
  • Make sure that the printer is turned on and in a ready state.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Envy 4501 printer. You can usually find this information on the HP support website.
  • If updates are available, follow the instructions provided by HP to update the printer firmware.

Install HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the App Store on your iPad.
  • Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer.

AirPrint Setup:

  • Ensure that your HP Envy 4501 supports AirPrint. Most modern HP printers do.
  • On your iPad, open the document or photo you want to print.
  • Tap the Share icon or the Print icon, and select your HP printer from the list of available printers.

Check Printer Queue:

  • Go to the Settings app on your iPad.
  • Scroll down and tap on "Printers & Scanners."
  • Select your HP Envy 4501 printer and check if there are any pending print jobs. If there are, try canceling them and then attempt to print again.

Reboot Devices:

  • Restart both your iPad and the HP Envy 4501 printer. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.

Reinstall Printer on iPad:

  • Delete the printer from your iPad's printer list.
  • Reinstall the printer by going to "Printers & Scanners" in the iPad settings, tap on the printer, and follow the prompts to reinstall it.

Check for App Updates:

  • If you are using a specific app to print, make sure it is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, app updates include improvements for printer compatibility.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the printing issue between your new iPad and the HP Envy 4501 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
