LaserJet CP1025nw

I recently wanted to switch the configuration of the CP1025nw from an Ethernet setup to a WiFi setup. I installed HP Smart as the hp website suggested, but I could not ever successfully complete the setup of the the printer. I have tried on 1 Windows 10 devices, 2 Mac OSX Catalina devices, and 1 Android 10 device. They can all see the printer and connect to it, but cannot print.

On Windows 10 via WiFi and Ethernet

  • The printer shows up in HP Smart and  in Printers & Scanners
  • When adding the device in Printers & Scanners, it states "Driver is unavailable"
  • I can connect to the printer webpage and print a test page from there
  • I have restarted the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart, and factory reset the printer. The issue persists.

On OSX Catalina via Wifi and Ethernet

  • The printer shows up in HP Smart and can be added and seen in Printers & Scanners. The status is Idle.
  • The HP Smart setup almost completes, but hangs at "Finding the printer..."
  • I can connect to the printer webpage and print a test page from there.
  • I can see the printer in my Printers & Scanners, but when I print to it, it fails with "Filter" failed error; I have followed my troubleshooting steps on other forums about this with no success
  • I can see the printer in HP Smart, but the status is "Unknown"

On OSX Catalina via USB

  • HP Smart hangs on the first "Finding the printer..." step

My printer is in perfect working order. It worked fine on old drivers. The only thing that changed is the drivers, but since I am out of warranty I can't get any support. Is there a way to revert to old drivers?

@ctrlawkdel, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

HP LaserJet CP1025nw Color Printer is not supported with macOS 10.15 Catalina. The Printer driver for macOS 10.15 Catalina is not available from the HP website or Apple Software Update. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.

NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.

On a Win PC, install the printer using Windows built-in driver or click here to download the driver from the HP Support site.

Refer to this document to know how.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Unfortunately, the driver page for the printer only downloads HP Smart, which was unable to install drivers for my printer. I ended up having to use a generic Windows printer driver, and then shared the printer with my Macs.

Yes, that is what I mentioned in my previous post. There are no drivers available for this printer to work macOS 10.15

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
