I've been working for a week with a new HP Smart Tank 7602 alli-in-one printer trying to scan to a network folder in a Lenovo laptop running WIN 11. This includes spending over 4 hours (& $55 on HP's Smart Friend support) on the phone, all w/ no success.
I had to go to several YouTube videos to learn how to set up a network folder, and have done so, verifying that it can be accessed by the other computer on our WIFI network.
I am about at my wit's end! Can anyone provide any other advice?
Thanks -- RayW68

Welcome to the HP Community --

Apparently contrary to all the documentation for this printer, the model does indeed support Scan to Email and Scan to Network Folder using the classic version of the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

The following is an older example based on another "different printer" that was similarly capable of supporting SMTP Scan to Network Folder.

What is included in the example might be helpful ...

EWS > HP Document / How-to (InkJet Printers – Original Format)

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

OR

HP Laser Printers - Using the Printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Open your Browser

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Reminder

If asked enter the printer’s PIN number – the default number is generally located on the back or inside the printer.

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Network Folder Setup

Older Example - EWS - Scan to Network Folder

EWS SMTP setup and related Windows permissions

Dragon Fur, thank you for the quick response to my "cry for help!"

Between the 7 (!) different support techs I've spoken to in the last 3 or so days, I've done all of what you suggested, several times.  Unfortunately, the problem persists.

When I open the EWS either by putting the iP address into the server search bar or by opening the HP Smart app and' go to Advanced Settings, I see several choices:  "Scan to Email," "Scan to Network Folder," "Energy Save Mode," Printer update---there are 4 other choices, ending in "Wireless Setup Wizzard."   After signing in with the printer's PIN number, 3 blocks show a green check mark for "Configured":  Wireless Wizzard, Network Summary and---Scan to Network!

However, when I open Scan to Network and select the networked folder (which I can access on my wife's computer, attached to the same WIFI), i get an error saying "Network error. Check the printer's network connection and try again."

The 6th person I spoke with said I needed to talk with the "printer office."  I've confirmed with the 7th tech I spoke with last night that those folks are in the US and have a direct 800 number with which to phone them tomorrow morning.

One curious thing:  while I have created a "networked folder" which I can readily access on my computer and have also accessed it on my wife's machine, it does not show up in the list of items in the network.  What listed are hardware items:  2 Sonos speakers, and the HP printer 3x--once as "other devices," once as "printers" and once as "scanners."  I don't know whether this is the root of my problem--that the networked folder is not listed in the network.

Any thoughts on that?

Thanks again for your time and suggestions.  I'll let you know what the final fix is.
