Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought the HP Officejet 9025e, and am relatively sure I have downloaded all drivers, HP+ Smart, and HP Printer Assistant. I am trying to set up to receive digital faxes with the printer assistant, and it asks for the administrator password. Well, I am the administrator., as this is my personal desktop computer. I key in my HP+ password, and pop-up message states administrator must approve. Do I set up regular faxing first, THEN set up the HP Digital Fax?  I had similar issues with my HP Officejet Pro 8600. I need to get this done because I work with disabled individuals and request medical records that can be 500 pages or more....help!

2.  If you are setting up Digital Fax > Save to Network Folder, then

  • Folder on the destination computer / remote network storage must be shared
  • Read / Write Access must be granted - generally to "Everyone" unless you want to trip over password requirements.
  • In some cases, using the host (computer) name in the folder path does not work - use the computer / storage device IP Address instead.

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Fax > HP Digital Fax

3.  Sorry, I don't understand the context - it might still be harking back to the open Shared Folder / Read-Write Access setup.

4.  Yes, set up regular Fax first.

  • The printer Fax has to know how to receive a fax before it can forward it to either Email or a Network folder (Digital fax options on this printer).

What else?

One other place you MIGHT get into trouble is if you have blocked the Fax to Email / Network folder in EWS Security.

Normally, this security setting is defaulted to enabled - you can certainly check in case you did change something.

Usual Warning:  Be very careful changing the security settings...

Anything "Fax" should be enabled...

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Security > Administrator Settings
