I installed the basic driver provided by HP Support download for this printer (HP ENVY Series 5000) and after installing I tried to configure the printer as a wireless connection providing the IP address of the printer. It sees the printer but fails telling me it is missing some drivers. Namely the HP ENVY Series 5000 PCL-3 driver and perhaps more. Help! I am at my wits end after trying numerous installs uninstalls of the driver from HP and still no solution. I can connect to the printer using USB but that is not what I bought this printer for. I need wireless connection between printer and laptops and I do not want to use cloud printing or the like. I also wanted to be able to print from my iPhones and that is working just fine.

Tried above steps more than I would have liked to (more than 20 times) with no success. What I finally did was go to another laptop running Windows 10 (same version as mine) and without installing the Printer Driver full set from HP as I did on mine, I was successful in connecting, installing, and printing to the printer. For some reason, and this has happened more than once to me when installing HP Printer Drivers, my laptop system was corrupted beyond repair. The only option was to Reset the laptop to reinstall Windows 10 and go from there. After resetting the WIndows 10 installation, I was then able to reach out to the printer and install it just fine, again without installing the Printer Driver full set for this printer from HP. The SCANNER also worked just fine as well. I am not interested in using HP Connect to allow printing via the internet and that is the only feature that really needs to the driver package for this printer. I am convinced the drivers provided from HP are untested and are unsafe to use. I will not use them anymore! If I can connect to the printer and scanner and use them with success without installing the drivers, I will NOT install the HP Printer Drivers from HP.

Hi @Eaglerunner
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Try these steps -
Step 1 HP Print and Scan Doctor -
Click on this link to download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor
Step 2 Re-install the printer drivers -
1. In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".
2. Look for HP Printer software.
3. Right-click to uninstall.
4. In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.
5. In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.
6. Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7. Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).
8. Click on the "Drivers" tab.
9. Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.
10. Select Ok.
11. Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.
12. Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.
13. Restart the computer.
14. Download and install the software and drivers from here.
15. Click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
