Hi!

How do a factory reset firmware on my HP Laser Jet Pro MFP  M28a ?  

My PC does not recognize the MFP M28a printer.  If i search it in the device manager section, the only printer founded is "hp laser jet 3020".

To assist you better, are you using a Win 10 PC?

Resetting the printer will not help in this case. How is the printer connected to the PC?

Check the connectivity.

The printer should be first installed on the computer for you to be able to print. You may use the HP Smart app from Microsoft Store.

For assistance with the printer setup, click here.

 

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

I already have installed drivers on windows 10, or win 7, 64bit.. PC doctor cannot find printer. USB connection, I've hanged another usb cable but doesnt work. I take printer in HP offcial services and they told me the printer is dead. Next time, I will not buy hp because if i need upgrade firmware they bricked my device, old printers are the best but newer hp is very bad for me and my workgroup. Thank you!

I'm sorry you feel that way. Firmware update will not brick the device.

You may reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region for assistance or service/replacement options for your printer. 

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

 

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device. 

4) Select the country from the drop-down. 

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 

6) Fill out the webform and proceed further.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes, you may use this link to find the phone number of the regional HP Support team: HP Phone Assist Worldwide
