Using Mac Seqouia 15.3.2. Cannot use poster option for printing on HP 8710. It is grayed out. Any suggestions to allow this option to be activated so can "tile" the pages?

None of the suggestions helped except for using an outside software (block poster). Removed printer, downloaded software. still no option for poster printing following your steps. I'll just go with the third party suggested software.

Hi @pas65,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Driver

Ensure that you are using the correct and most up-to-date driver for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.

Download and Install Latest Driver:

  1. Visit HP Support: Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
  2. Select Your Printer: Enter the model number (HP OfficeJet Pro 8710) to find the correct driver.
  3. Download Driver: Download the latest Mac version of the printer driver and software.
  4. Install Driver: Follow the installation instructions.

 Verify Printer Settings

Check Printer Queue Settings:

  1. Open System Preferences: Click on the Apple icon and select System Preferences.
  2. Printers & Scanners: Select Printers & Scanners.
  3. Choose Your Printer: Click on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.
  4. Options & Supplies: Click on Options & Supplies and navigate to the Driver tab to ensure the correct driver is used.

Enable Advanced Printing Features

Access Print Dialog:

  1. Print Document: Open the document you want to print and select File > Print.
  2. Show Details: Click on Show Details to expand the print dialog.
  3. Paper Size and Layout: Ensure you select the correct paper size and layout.
  4. Poster/Tiling Option: Look for poster printing or tiling options under layout settings.

Software Alternatives

If the native driver does not provide poster printing, you can use third-party software designed for poster printing:

Download Tiling Software:

  1. Block Poster: Consider downloading software like Block Poster from their website.
  2. Posteriza or Rasterbator: Other programs like Posteriza or Rasterbator can also create tiled prints.

Print Settings in App

Some applications provide print options that allow for tiling directly:

Preview or Adobe Acrobat:

  1. Open Document: Open your poster or image file.
  2. Print Options: Check the print settings in Preview or Adobe Acrobat for tiling options.

I hope this helps.

One more thing - I don't know for sure if I downloaded the correct driver - as there was not indication if it was a Mac Driver. There was only one available.  (4.7?). Di not give me the option for "show details" when pulled up printer box.
