I purchased this printer from a neighbor at a yard sale. After getting it set up to the wifi, I got this message: "A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print, except for printer reports, until the issue is resolved. Check your HP account for more information. To learn more, open the HP Smart app or visit www.hpsmart.com and sign in to your account." I signed into my account, but it won't let me add the device. I can't enter it manually because the website doesn't recognize my product model number, and I can't get customer support because I have to add the device before it can be supported. I've called twice and haven't been able to speak with a human. "We cannot help you at this time." I'll sign up for their printer ink program, etc. if I can make an account, but right now I'm ready to throw this thing out of a window. Also, when I try to watch a video or do most anything on the website, the feedback window on the left opens up and there's no way to close it or submit feedback! Do better, HP. My user name checks out.

Hi @Frustrated098,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an issue with the printer can't print your HP LaserJet M209dw Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove the USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
Update the printer firmware
- Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
- Click here to know different methods of updating the printer firmware.
If the issue persists, then please follow the steps mentioned in this document: uninstall and reinstall HP Smart App Click here
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
