@MikeVPLtd,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?
  • What is the exact error message you are getting?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!

Thanks

Error message is Carriage jam. The print carriage cannot move.Open......

It came up earlier this month but then cleared itself on reset & was working last week but then I got this message again and cannot shift it. It is blocking me going to tools so I can't print a test page. I have tried everything else

When I switch off as recommended and restart it shows the main menu and then goes immediately into check routine-the carriage moves ok back and forth but it then finishes with the carriage jam error. When I say OK it repeats. Catch 22

No new software uploads

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Figure : Example of the carriage partially under the cover on the right side of the printer

    • If you can move the carriage underneath the cover on the right side of the printerskip to the next step to print a status report.

  5. Make sure that the posts are not blocking the carriage from moving all the way to the right.

  6. Use a long, slim object (such as the eraser-end of a pencil) to gently push in the post.

The carriage is now jammed on the RHS (underneath)

This is the sequence:

1. Power disconnected. Carriage stuck RHS and can't be moved. Cover open

2 Power reconnected Start up cartridge carriage moves fully to left, to right and to left again where it stays

3Power disconnected. I can move carriage freely including to right and back again. Leave RHS

4 Repeat 2 above

5 Cover down carriage jam error OK

6 It comes back to Menu and goes into test mode

7 Carriage jam error

8 Cover up and carriage is stuck RHS as 1 above

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Good day! Take care 🙂
