HP LaserJet Pro M15w Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I originally purchased my HP LaserJet M15w from the United Kingdom but have recently moved to Singapore. I am unable to get the replacement cartridge to work (CF248A) as I understand the printer's region will need to be reset from the United Kingdom / Europe (which only accepts CF244A cartridges) to Singapore / APAC (which can accept CF248A cartridges). I have seen previous posts in the HP community relating to this region reset issue for the LaserJet M15w and understand there is a way to reset the region on the printer, but HP support assistants will require specific information before being able to assist. I am happy to provide any additional information via direct message. Thanks for your help.

Hi @AncientSquash,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand your concern regarding cartridge compatibility for your HP LaserJet Pro M15w printer after relocating from the United Kingdom to Singapore.

You are correct that toner cartridges are region-specific. The HP LaserJet Pro M15w models originally configured for the UK/Europe region are designed to work with CF244A cartridges, while printers set for the APAC region accept CF248A cartridges. To use the CF248A cartridge in Singapore, the printer’s region setting must be reset.

HP does provide limited support for region reset requests. Please refer to the following official HP document for guidance on performing a regional reset:
👉10.20.43, 10.21.43, 10.22.43, 10.23.43 Incompatible Cartridge | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi VikramTheGreat

Thanks for responding to my query. I have tried the various solutions offered in the linked page you sent to me, but my printer (1) doesn't have an LCD screen with the relevant options and (2) the EWS menu unfortunately doesn't have the relevant settings page you are referring to.

Having looked at some similar posts a few years ago, I understand there is method to reset the region of the LaserJet M15w via the HP Smart App.

In the 'About' screen, holding Cntrl + Shift and right clicking takes you to the 'Reset device region (use in conjunction with support personnel only)' screen. See screenshot below.

Would it be possible for you or one of your colleagues to provide the relevant information to complete the reset?

Thanks
