Hi,

I have the printer HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw. I had to do a hard reset and now want to change the auto assigned email adress for the printer with random numbers and letters (XXXXXXX@hpeprint.com) into the one address @hpepint.com that I previously customized and created.

I already tried different options : it seems that hpconnected.com is not working anymore, and I cannot use HP SMART as it seems the printer is not compatible with this website

Can someone help ?

Thanks

Hi @Sammoi

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Since you've done a hard reset, your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw has likely reverted to a randomly assigned ePrint email address. Unfortunately, HP no longer supports HP Connected, which was previously used to customize ePrint addresses.

However, here are some steps you can try:

1. Check HP Smart for Email Customization

  • Go to HP Smart.
  • Sign in with your HP account.
  • Select your printer and look for ePrint settings.
  • If customization is available, enter your preferred email address.

2. Use Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from your printer.
  • Find the IP address and enter it in a web browser.
  • Navigate to Web Services → ePrint Settings.
  • If an option to change the email exists, update it.
