My HP ink tank 7006 printer has HP Glossy Brochure paper set as the default. I want to change that to plain paper as default so that I don't have to change the print media type every time I want to print something. I can't imagine that I would want to use Gloosy brochure paper very often if at all.

Try these steps:
Open Printer Settings
Search for and open Printers & scanners in Windows:
- Click the Start menu or press the Windows key.
- Type Printers & scanners in the search box and select it from the list.
Select your HP Ink Tank 7006 printer from the list of installed printers.
Access Printer Preferences
- Click on Manage.
- Select Printing preferences.
Change Default Media Type
- In the Printing Preferences dialog box, navigate to the Paper/Quality tab.
- Under Media, find the Paper Type dropdown menu.
- Select Plain Paper from the list of options.
Save Changes
- After selecting Plain Paper, click Apply or OK to save the changes.
Verify Changes
- To ensure the changes have been applied, open a document and click File > Print.
- Check the print settings to see if Plain Paper is now set as the default media type.
Additional Steps for HP Smart App
If you are using the HP Smart app, you can also change the default media type through the app:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Select your HP Ink Tank 7006 printer.
- Click Print Documents or Print Photos.
- Select your printer and then click More Settings.
- In the More Settings menu, change the Paper Type to Plain Paper.
- Save the settings.
