Change default scan location on OfficeJet Pro 8030 Printer

Hello Forum,

I have an employee who, on her Windows 10 computer, used to start a scan directly from the HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 printer, and it would automatically save as a PDF in the Documents folder.

After upgrading her computer to Windows 11, she was forced to use HP Smart instead of the older software available on Windows 10.

Now, when she scans from the printer, it defaults to saving as an image file in the Pictures folder.

I haven’t been able to find a way to change this in the HP Scan software or through the printer’s web interface. HP Smart doesn’t seem to offer many options—and honestly, it doesn’t feel very “Smart.”

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Please press both the Windows Logo and R keys at the same time to launch the Run dialog.

Type appwiz.cpl and press OK.

Note: if the printer is connected via USB, unplug the able now.

Identify and uninstall the HP Officejet Pro 8030 software from your PC.

Download and reinstall the latest software below:

Upon completing the installation, the Full Feature HP Software among the HP Scan software should now be reinstalled.

You may open the HP Scan software and change the default path location for your scan jobs.
