I have seen several threads saying that printers can be de-regionalized. I have tried to search for a HP support service phone number to call in the USA to ask if this is possible. My printer was purchased in Switzerland and would like to use it in the U.S. but compatible cartridges are not recognized by the printer. What to do? (Other than buying a new printer...)

Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

We need to perform a regional reset on the printer to resolve this issue. 

 

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. 

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
