Hi, my printer has goone astray after network and router change. A total reset would be very nice but how to do that?

Hi @Giel88,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

A full reset is the best way to clear old network settings and start fresh after changing your router. Here’s how to factory reset your HP LaserJet printer:

Method 1: Use the Control Panel

  1. On the printer’s display, go to: Setup → Service → Restore Defaults (or Reset Factory Settings, depending on model).
  2. Confirm the reset.
  3. The printer will restart and return to factory defaults, clearing all network settings.

Method 2: Use Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. If you can still access the printer’s IP:
    • Open a browser and enter the printer’s IP address.
    • Go to Settings → General → Restore Factory Settings.
  2. Confirm and restart.

Method 3: Hard Reset (Button Combination)

For models without a touchscreen:

  • Power off the printer.
  • Hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons together while powering on.
  • Keep holding until the lights blink, then release.

After Reset

  • Reconnect the printer to your new Wi-Fi using the Wireless Setup Wizard or HP app.
  • Make sure you use the same 2.4 GHz network (most LaserJets don’t support 5 GHz).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
