I removed a HP printer and replaced it with a Canon. Unfortunately my laptop shows an error 28 and unknown device where the printer info should be. My Canon works just fine but I can't figure out how to FULLY remove that HP printer

Hi! @JeriMeri, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand you replaced HP printer with a different brand printer and now you are getting code 28 error.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer or PC?
Please try the steps recommended below.
It looks to be a driver issue.
Try manually installing the driver.
Download the driver from Canon website.
Go to the device manager and click on the unknown device needing drivers.
Then click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
If the issue still persists contact the printer vendor for more assistance.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂

It keeps reverting to the HP printer...in hardware id I get this: mf\officejet_3830_series&wsd&ip_print. When I try to Update the Driver is refers to the old HP printer I had. The Canon works fine and is in my Device and Printers site. However my laptop icon there keeps showing the yellow triangle with the !
IS there someplace I should go to remove all references to the HP printer? I've uninstalled the software.
