Looking for any guidance!

I bought a color font and installed, and it looks great on a word document, but when I go to print it just comes out black. It's doing the same when I save it as a PDF and open it.

I'm thinking that I need to change my ink settings on the printer but I'm not sure where or what ones.

Hi @UCC6101,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out! If your HP DeskJet 4152e is printing color fonts as black only, even though they display correctly on-screen, the issue likely comes from either the print settings, application rendering, or printer driver behavior, not necessarily your ink levels.

Let’s walk through some troubleshooting steps to help resolve this:

1. Check if Color Printing is Enabled

  • Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners
  • Click on your HP DeskJet 4152e > Manage
  • Click Printing Preferences
  • Under the Paper/Quality or Color tab:
    • Ensure Color is selected (not Grayscale or Black & White)
  • Click Apply or OK

2. Check App Settings (Word or PDF Reader)

In Microsoft Word:

  • Go to File > Print
  • Click Printer Properties
    • Again, ensure it's not set to Black & White or Grayscale
  • Try changing the color mode to Color and printing again

In Adobe Reader (PDF):

  • File > Print
  • Click Printer Properties
  • Make sure Color Printing is enabled

3. Test Printer Itself

Let’s see if your printer can physically print in color.

Try This:

  • Open Paint
  • Draw or type in color
  • Print it
  • If it prints in color, your cartridges are fine
  • If everything still prints black, check the color ink levels in the HP Smart App (available on Windows and mobile)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
