HP colour laser 150. Makers say in sales literature print resolution in colour is 600dpi. In 'General>features' the text says max resolution is 300dpi, and color prints look like that [ ie not good] from two laptops running Windows 10. However if I print from a further laptop running Windows 7, the resolution is much much sharper and colour prints do look like 600 dpi. Any suggestions as to how to get 600dpi in Windows 10?

I think I have, by chance, more or less solved my own question. Acting on a hunch, I stripped out the current driver downloaded from the HP website [ as specified in the Manual] , plugged the printer into the USB socket and let Windows 10 find its drivers and connect. And - well, the Color Laser HP150 now prints resolution 600 dpi [ or what looks to be 600 dpi] in colour, well enough for domestic use.
I suspect that the HP driver has "added goodness" [ like color adjustments, but I will leave that to others.
Thankyou, Forum.

No idea how to prove the printer is printing at 600 DPI.
This is a moderately capable printer that does indicate that "Best" printing is supported at 600 DPI.
That "higher DPI" might include printing documents as well as image printing.
Might be that the full solution software / full driver printer software is not installed...
If you have not already done so, do install the printer software.

Thankyou Dragon-Fur, for a reply. Sadly, question not yet fully answered. I have just been round the loop again, re-installing the HP Color Laser 150 drivers and guide from the website on the Windows 10 laptop and it still says under Properties that max resolution in color is 300 dpi, and a test print looks like that [scruffy]. Whereas the Windows 7 laptop says max resolution is 600 dpi, and the test print looks like that [ ie not bad at all ]. I'm inclined to think that the lead magazine reviewer of the 150 fell into the same trap when he complained about the quality of the color prints? Now - the simple answer is to transfer the photos I want good prints from across to the Windows 7 laptop. But that is a bit defeatist! I feel there must be a simple 'fix' - somthing in the installation process perhaps, or maybe coaxing the Windows 7 drivers to fit onto Windows 10. But what is it?

You are welcome.
Perhaps another Expert can better answer the question.
Good Luck.
