HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw

Got an expired certificate alert (nearly10 years after purchasing).  Us the HP IP address website as instructed to create a new self serve certificate and updated.  Printer workding fine after that.  A few weeks later now I've tried to scan for the first time and the scanning function is not working.  I've reloaded drivers - turned everything on and off and restarted - re set up the wireless connection.  Not sure what to do

@ReppleAZ, Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Community! 🎉

It seems like you're dealing with an expired certificate issue on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw printer.

I’m here to help you troubleshoot your issue and get things back on track. Just follow these steps below, and we’ll have you running smoothly in no time:

Check the Date and Time on the Printer

If the printer’s date and time are incorrect, SSL certificates might be treated as expired. To fix this:

  • Open a browser and type the printer’s IP address in the URL bar to access the printer's web interface. (You can find the IP address on the printer display or by printing a network configuration page)
  • Log in with the admin credentials.
  • Go to Settings > General Settings > Date and Time and ensure the date, time, and time zone are correct.
  • After updating, restart the printer to apply the changes.

Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate

If the certificate is still expired, try generating a new one:

  • Log into the web interface of your printer using the printer’s IP address.
  • Navigate to Security > Certificates or Web Services (this might vary based on the printer’s firmware version).
  • Look for an option to create or renew the certificate.
  • Follow the prompts to generate a new self-signed certificate.
  • Once done, restart the printer.
