I want to disable the auto-off technology energy saver. I like that it goes into sleep mode but it totally shuts down after 8 hours of inactivity. I don't want to have to boot it up every day. My other HP printer with that auto-on, auto-off technology  just stays in sleep mode until I send a print job.  Why won't it just be ready to print whenever I send a print to it?????

I was having the same or perhaps a similar problem (mine never seemed to totally turn off, as the power button continued blinking and the screen would come to life when touched, but it would go offline and not come back on until powered off and back on). I stumbled upon a suggestion in a message relating to another printer that seems to have worked for me, however. What it said to do was, with the printer on, unplug the power cord, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, and then finally plug it back in. Did that a couple of days ago, and now the printer wakes up for print jobs. Because I have no idea why this would make any difference, I'm still half expecting the problem to recur. Still, worth a try for you probably.

Well, I take it back. My printer went into a coma again.
