I want to print a document directly from the Acrobat software, but there's an alert that there is no printer installed, but my HP printer is installed and working. Also, if I try to print from Microsoft Word, the option to print in color is not available. I don't want to use the HP app because there are no options to print several pages in one sheet. How to fix the issues of compatibility with other software programs?

Hi @Magdalena_,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Printing directly from Acrobat or Word may result in certain compatibility issues, especially when dealing with printer configurations or settings. Below are some steps to help troubleshoot and resolve these issues:

For Adobe Acrobat:

Check Printer Setup in Acrobat:

  • Make sure your HP printer is set as the default printer in Windows. To do this, go to your Devices and Printers settings in the Control Panel and ensure that your HP printer is selected as the default.
  • In Acrobat, navigate to the Print dialog and confirm that your printer is selected. If it does not appear, you may need to reinstall the printer drivers or update Acrobat.

Font Settings:

  • If Acrobat encounters a problem detecting the printer, it might be due to font settings. Ensure that the "Send TrueType fonts as" setting in Acrobat is set to Outlines, not Bitmaps, which may lead to errors.

Reinstall Driver:

  • Uninstall and then reinstall the HP printer drivers. This might resolve any mismatches between software applications and the printer.

For Microsoft Word:

Ensure Latest Driver is Installed:

  • Make sure you're using the latest version of your printer driver. Visit the HP support website to download the most recent driver for your specific printer model.

Printer Properties:

  • In Word, when accessing the Print dialog, click Printer Properties to ensure that color printing is enabled. You might have to manually select color printing in the properties menu of the printer settings.

Document Properties:

  • Ensure that the document settings within Word do not override printer settings (e.g., color options). Verify in Page Setup or Print settings that the document is not defaulting to grayscale or black and white.

General Troubleshooting Steps:

Connection Issues:

  • Check all printer connections, ensuring the printer is properly connected to your network or computer.

Software Updates:

  • Ensure both your operating system and software applications (Acrobat, Word) are updated to the latest versions, as updates often fix compatibility issues.

Switching Printer Language:

  • If your printer can switch between print languages, ensure that you are using the correct settings in the printer properties.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
