When I download what should be the right driver for this older printer to work with my new MacBook Air, I click the appropriate box to install, after a few moments of a whirling icon I get a dialog box that says "we were not able to automatically locate any software options for this product. Please go to the HP website and search for product solutions there". Which eventually brought me here to this community resource. Can anyone confirm whether or not that this older printer (which works perfectly with my MacBook Pro running 10.6.8) WILL or WILL NOT work with my new Mac running Big Sur? (and I'll be REALLY annoyed if it is incompatible!)

Hi,
Download and install the latest drivers from Apple below:
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?locale=en_US
Once completing the installation connect the printer and turn it on, open System Preferences, and then open Printers & Scanners to re-add your printer. be sure to select the printer model within the Use drop-down menu and try printing.
