My computer suddenly won't recognize my printer when I want to scan something. I was able to print normally. I uninstalled the printer and am attempting to reinstall it with HP Smart, but my computer doesn't recognize the printer as an available option. Do I need to factory reset the printer?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

  1. download only this software package: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28/M29/M30a Printer Full Software Solution 
  2. Switch off printer
  3. Uninstall the HP software, drivers, and apps used with HP printers 
  4. Reboot system
  5. install the Full Software Solution
  6. remember not to turn on the printer until you are asked for the connection type.
