Our printer contact to our computer has stopped. It was working before. It is a new printer we recently purchased at our local Costco.

Hi @GloriaJim,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your new HP printer has lost its connection to your computer, which can happen for a few reasons: network changes, driver issues, or setup conflicts. Let’s get you back up and printing:

1. Check the Basics

  • Make sure the printer is powered on and shows Ready on its display.
  • Confirm your computer and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If you’re using a USB, ensure the cable is firmly connected.

2. Restart Devices

  • Power cycle the printer, your computer, and your router.
  • This clears temporary network glitches.

3. Reconnect the Printer

  • On the printer screen:
Setup → Network Settings → Wireless Setup Wizard
    Reconnect to your Wi-Fi.
  • If your router uses both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, choose 2.4 GHz (most HP printers require it).

4. Reinstall Drivers

  • Download the latest drivers from HP: Official HP® Support
  • Install the Full Feature Software for your printer model.

5. Use HP App

6. If Still Not Connecting

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or VPN on your computer.
  • Reset the printer’s network settings:
Set up → Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults, then reconnect.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
