Hi @Hunter9,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Connecting an HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer using a USB cable typically does not require a Wi-Fi connection. However, if you are encountering a message that the printer is offline, there are a few things you can check and steps you can take to resolve the issue.

  • Ensure the Printer is On: Make sure the printer is powered on and has paper loaded in the paper tray.
  • Check USB Connection: Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer. Sometimes, a loose connection can lead to the printer being recognized as offline.
  • Install Printer Drivers: If you haven't already done so, you may need to install the printer drivers on your computer. You can usually find the drivers on the HP website. Download the appropriate drivers for your operating system and follow the installation instructions.
  • Set as Default Printer: Make sure that the HP LaserJet P1102w is set as the default printer on your computer. To do this, go to your computer's settings or control panel and select "Devices" or "Printers." Right-click on your HP printer and choose "Set as default printer."
  • Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages on the printer's display panel. These messages can sometimes provide clues as to what might be causing the issue.
  • Restart Printer and Computer: Try restarting both the printer and your computer. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues.
  • Reinstall the Printer: If you continue to have problems, you may want to try uninstalling the printer and then reinstalling it. To do this, go to your computer's "Devices" or "Printers" settings, right-click on the HP printer, and select "Uninstall." Then, follow the steps to reinstall it.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve issues. You can check for firmware updates on the HP website.
  • USB Port Issues: If none of the above steps work, it's possible that there could be an issue with the USB port on either the printer or your computer. Try connecting the USB cable to a different USB port on your computer to see if that resolves the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
