@Flygirlholly, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Smart Tank!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you’re trying to connect your HP Smart Tank printer to a Windows 10 computer using USB only (without WiFi), follow these steps:

1. Check Printer & USB Connection

  • Ensure the printer is powered on.
  • Use a working USB cable (preferably the one that came with the printer).
  • Try plugging the cable into a different USB port on your computer.

2. Install HP Printer Drivers

  • Go to HP official website: Click here
  • Search for your printer model.
  • Download and install the full feature driver and software for Windows 10.
  • During installation, select USB Connection when prompted.

3. Check Device Manager

  • Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
  • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers and Printers.
  • If you see a yellow warning sign on the printer, right-clickUpdate driver.
  • Choose Browse my computer for drivers and select the downloaded driver folder.

4. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Run the tool to diagnose and fix connection issues.

If it still doesn’t work, try a different USB cable or port. Let me know if you need further assistance! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
