HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer

I cannot get the printer to connect to Spectrum Wi-Fi. We had AT&T previously and there were no problems. I use the HP Smart app and it gets to the point of connecting and there is an error. Spectrum says the problem is on your end. Maybe a driver?

Hi @MBGA

Check Your Spectrum Router Settings

Since you had no issues with AT&T but are experiencing problems with Spectrum, there may be a router or network setting causing the issue.

Wi-Fi Band Compatibility:

  • Dual-Band Router: Many modern routers (like Spectrum's) use both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Make sure you're connecting your printer to the 2.4 GHz band, as some older printers and devices may not support the faster 5 GHz band.
  • If your router is broadcasting both bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), ensure that your printer is connected to the correct one.
  • SSID Names: Some routers have the same name (SSID) for both bands. You might need to rename the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks separately to make sure you’re connecting the printer to the right band.

Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer, Click here

Uninstall the HP smart app from your devices.

Note: If there are additional printers listed on the HP smart app, they will be deleted)

Post that, re-download the HP smart app on your phone, open the app, and click on add printer on top. Select your printer and follow the on-screen instructions to get your printer connected to the network.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
