I have tried several methods to connect my new 2800e printer to my network. My equpment inludes an modern Applemac,, an iphone XL,  a 3 year old android, and an up to date Ubuntu. The router serves the TV and is very fast, c150.  Each time I get as far as the printer being recognised  at step 1 of the HP Amart set up process  but at the next step, after entering the netwrk security code it stalls and shows a fault code of -3.  I have also tried with network  security switched off to no avail  Advice please

Hi @avhation,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble connecting your HP printer to the network. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Network Connection Issues

Check Network Requirements: Ensure that your network meets the requirements, such as being on a 2.4 GHz network if using Wi-Fi (some printers may not support 5 GHz networks).

Restart Devices:

  • Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Router: Restart your router to refresh the network.
  • Computer/Device: Restart your Apple Mac, iPhone, Android, and Ubuntu devices.

Reset Printer’s Network Settings:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on your printer to restore network default settings. This might involve a sequence that the printer manual details.

Ensure Printer is in Setup Mode:

  • The printer automatically enters setup mode for two hours after being powered on for the first time. If the setup takes longer, you may need to reset this mode.

Use HP App:

Firmware Update:

  • Check if your printer’s firmware needs an update. You can do this by connecting the printer via USB to a computer, visiting the https://support.hp.com/us-en.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
