macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello,

A friend passed on his printer to me and I am trying to connect it to my computer but I do not have the cable that connects from the printer to my computer. I was wondering if I could still connect it wirelessly. The printer is HP Deskjet 3050A and my operating system is MacOS Mojave 10.14.6

Thank you for your help.

Hi @CamilaO,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Deskjet 3050A printer supports wireless connectivity, and you can set it up to print wirelessly from your Mac. Here are the general steps you can follow.

  1. Check Wireless Connection on Printer:

    • Make sure your HP Deskjet 3050A printer is turned on.
    • Check if the wireless light on the printer is blinking, indicating that it's ready for a wireless connection.
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi Network:

    • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the setup or network menu.
    • Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the network password if prompted.
  3. Download and Install HP Software:

    • Go to the HP official website and search for the drivers and software for your printer model.
    • Download the appropriate software for macOS Mojave 10.14.6.
  4. Install the Software:

    • Run the downloaded software package to install the necessary drivers and applications.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  5. Add Printer on macOS:

    • Open "System Preferences" on your Mac.
    • Select "Printers & Scanners" or "Print & Fax."
    • Click the '+' button to add a new printer.
    • Your HP Deskjet 3050A should appear in the list. Select it and click "Add."
  6. Complete the Setup:

    • Follow any additional on-screen prompts to complete the setup process.
    • Print a test page to ensure the wireless connection is working correctly.

Once you've completed these steps, your HP Deskjet 3050A should be connected to your Mac wirelessly, and you can print without the need for a USB cable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
