HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

The printer is showing that built in network capabilities are disabled. I checked the other thread on this subject but you PM'd the person asking about it, so no details were for public view. I am having an issues getting my 8600 Pro to be recognized by my devices that are all connected via ethernet cables to my router. I do have an ethernet hub but I connected my printer directly into the router for a more direct connection.

How do I get this printer to be fully available on this wired network? Thanks.

Hi @Jeff2025

Go to the printer Control panel and select "Setup"

Then go to "Network Setup"

And select "Ethernet Settings"

  • ferRX_2-1747704451689.png

And check Ethernet information like Activated, IP address number, and some other details.

Then add your printer from your Mac - Preferences > Printers > Add Printer option

"Built in network capabilities have been disabled. Contact your network administrator or the person who set up the printer" is what shows after clicking Network in the Settings screen.

Ok, then try a reset with the printer options, follow steps from the next video:

I reset to Factory Defaults, removed the printer from each of my devices, added them back & now all devices print. The video you sent wasn't any help. When they said to hit the home button, then back, then home 2 more times, the back button wasn't appearing nor the home button after the 1st click on home, so I just figured a full reset would work, & it did.

Thanks for your help.

My HP 8600 Pro says built-in network features are disabled. I connected it directly to the router with an Ethernet cable, but my devices still can't find it. How can I get it to work on my wired network?

HP Recommended

Try restoring and re-enabling the wired interface on the printer: go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults, reboot, then under Network > Wired (Ethernet) turn it back on. Ensure the Ethernet LED is lit on both printer and router, then print a Network Configuration page to confirm it’s getting a valid IP.

My way worked, not the 1 from you or the video. Just wanted to make that clear.
