I have hp envy 6032 printer with instant ink subscription, during the active subscription, I have changed my wifi connection. Now I am not able to connect my printer with the wifi and in app printer shows as not connected.
I did the printer wifi reset but now I am not able to connect to wifi as when trying to change the printer settings, it gives error:
Your printer is associated to an Instant Ink subscription. You must cancel your subscription to remove this printer.

Hi @yasveer,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; having your printer disconnected when you rely on it (and Instant Ink) is deeply frustrating. Let’s work together to reconnect your HP Envy 6032 and preserve your subscription.

Why This Happens

When the printer resets its Wi‑Fi during an active Instant Ink subscription, the HP Smart app can block reconnection until the subscription is recognized, leading to the error:

“Your printer is associated with an Instant Ink subscription. You must cancel your subscription to remove this printer.”

This message means the printer is still enrolled in Instant Ink and can't be removed until communications between your printer, the subscription, and the app are realigned.

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Re-Enroll via HP Smart App

Your goal is to reconnect the printer without cancelling your plan:

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  2. Attempt to Add New Printer.
  3. When asked to confirm Instant Ink subscription details, proceed, let the app verify and reconnect your enrolled printer even if it's not currently online.
  4. Once the printer is recognized, follow the app instructions to set up Wi‑Fi again using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
  5. Connect it to your new Wi‑Fi network.

This reconnects your printer’s subscription status with the app, allowing network setup to proceed.

2. Use WPS Method (if supported)

If your router supports WPS (Wi‑Fi Protected Setup):

  1. On the printer: Press and hold the wireless button for ~3 seconds to initiate WPS.
  2. On your router: Press the WPS button within 2 minutes.
  3. The printer should connect directly without needing a full software setup.
  4. Once connected, open HP Smart to confirm the printer is back online under your subscription.

3. Avoid a Full Factory Reset

Be cautious about a full factory reset, as it erases Wi‑Fi settings and sometimes disassociates Instant Ink enrollment. That would force you to cancel and re-subscribe, which poses risks with ink availability and billing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
