Today I setup my new Laserjet Pro MFP 283 cdw.  The setup went well as I used the HP setup app for the desktop on my MacBook Pro with the latest OS.  My wife and I both were able to print from our computers.  My only trouble is that I cannot access the Home screen on the control panel of my printer.  The control panel still displays the 4 options of "Default Settings", "Self-Managed", "It-Managed", and "Print Information Sheet".  If I press the Home Screen icon nothing happens.  Does anyone have an ideas how to fix this issue.

 Thanks

Does touching any of the options do anything? Until the hardware setup of the printer is complete, it is unlikely you can just return to the home screen. If none of the options respond to touch then the printer may be frozen or the control panel may be bad. Try touching one of the other options, if it does not respond, power cycle the printer and then try again. If the control panel is still not reponsive I would suspect a DOA unit and ask for a replacement from the vendor.

Thanks for your prompt response.  If I press "Default Settings", nothing happens.  Pressing "Self managed" and "It-managed" does advance me to the next sub-menu which I changed the self managed to yes.  I was allowed to press Print Information Sheet with success.   After thinking about it I should have left self managed to no.  The only way to change that setting is in the "Settings" menu from the Home screen which I cannot get to.  I find it odd that that setting can't be changed in the HP Smart app as you can see those settings under Device Configuration under advanced settings.

While using the HP Smart app on my desktop the I thought everything went smoothly.  However I thought it was bizarre that once I registered the printer while in setup mode I the app just stopped.  There was no continue button or any message claiming that the set up was complete so I just closed the screen after the registration process.
