Hi I have HP 4025 printer with duplex capabilities. I bought it 2nd hand a few years ago that I’m aware that Printer is actually at least 12 years old but it was in good condition and It had a low print count. I noticed that the firmware is the original from that time I’ve posted else in another question elsewhere in this forum about some quality issues have had and one of the experts suggested it could be software related. So my question is if I update the firmware is it likely to lock out my ability to install third-party toner cartridges? I know that HP was blocking out the third-party consumables and I want to avoid Snooking myself

It really depends on the 3rd party cartridges and is something I would ask the vendor of the cartridges. Unlikely kto cause issues with a 3rd party but better to check first.
