I've created password for the web server interface of my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w Printer (MFP M28-M31), and then when I've tried to change some settings it asked for Username (which is not mentioned anywhere) and Password.
After few unsuccessful attempts to access the web server interface and solve the Username riddle, I've tried to reset my printer wifi configuration by by holding the wifi button for 20 seconds, with the hope that his will reset the administration password as well. (Well, it didn't.)
Then I tried to initiate my printer with the HP Smart app, by the second step (Printer Configuration) failed, then I knew the password is till there. But now the printer is not even available on my network anymore.
At that point the printer isn't working even via the USB. It's locked completely. Only the scanner works.
Please advice!
Best Regards,
G. P.

Then I've installed 'HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28/M29/M30/M31w Printer Full Software Solution' and then tried to access the administration pages while connected via USB cable, and it asked for Username (already typed for me = 'admin') and Password with specific length, which I've exceeded the first time I've created the password. The stupid part is that, the web interface don't tell you about the length limit in the process of password creation, nor in the process of log in. So I'm always typing the wrong, full, long password.
Fortunately HP's native administration app (HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28/M29/M30/M31w Printer Full Software Solution) for WIndows asked for a specific length of the password, which you can see you're exceeding while typing. So now I've cut my password to fit the length, and voila! I've managed to log in and remove the password!
P.S.
And I wonder: how many people bricked their devices because of this stupid design flaw.
