How can I setup an HP LaserJet M1530 to DEFAULT to double sided printing.  Going to the Preferances for each print is getting old.  On my Mac's the print driver will remember this.

Thank you for replying. I truly appreciate your efforts and patience.

I incorrectly posted the link for Mac. It was my bad.

However, in Windows there is no presets like option. However, when you select the option to perform duplex printing, that setting should remain unchanged unless you manually change it.

If the software fails to remember that it needs to perform duplex printing then the evidence indicates towards a drivers issue. In such a case let us uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them. The following steps will help:

  1. In devices and printers, right-click the printer icon () for your printer, and then select Printing preferences.

  2. Select the print settings (paper size, orientation, etc.), duplex prinying option and then click OK.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • You may download and install the drivers from this link: www.123.hp.com

Hope this helps. Let me know. All the best! 🙂

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that you have an HP LaserJet M1530 series printer. I read that you would like to default to double sided printing. You would like the printer drivers to remember the setting.

I did some research and came across this HP document. Please refer to the steps mentioned under "Saving default print settings as a new preset".

Hope this information helps. Let me know. Cheers! 🙂

You've show the exact reason why I"m frustrated.

It's very easy in Mac OS to setup the printer to default to double sided printing.

Yet with Windows 10, the default can't be changed and your always forced to go secondary setup windows while printintg to turn that simple, built in feature of the printer.
