Default Setup P/W for initial setup of a 7602 printer? Note that when I press the WiFi button on the back in an attempt to restart the WiFi setup procedure, the system says "Busy, Please wait...". I've waited for 30 minutes in the this mode three times including power-down and restart before each attempt.
Additional Note: Someone else tried to do the manual setup procedure following the instructions in the Setup and Reference Guide. They said that they had some difficulty in adjusting the paper size from A4 to letter size and that when they completed the task. They said they did not see any instructions about printing the alignment page and that no alignment page was printed. They then knew there was a problem and requested my help. With the "Busy, Please wait..." message being continuously displayed and my inability to log into the WiFi for the printer setup, I'm stumped on how to proceed.

@MattHTL, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s how you can proceed with the HP Smart Tank 7602 printer setup and resolve the issues you're facing:
Default Setup Password
For HP printers like the Smart Tank 7602, the default Wi-Fi Direct password is something like:
12345678
However, if that doesn’t work, you can find the actual password by:
- Going to the printer control panel.
- Navigating to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Direct.
- Viewing the Wi-Fi Direct name and password on the screen.
Wi-Fi Setup Troubleshooting
The “Busy, Please wait...” message typically indicates the printer is stuck in a process or failed to reset properly. Here’s what you can try:
Hard Reset the Printer
- Power off the printer.
- Unplug it from the power source for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power it on.
- Wait until the printer is fully idle before pressing the Wi-Fi button again.
Reset Network Settings
If the above doesn’t work:
- On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
- Confirm the reset.
- Reattempt the Wi-Fi setup using the HP Smart App.
Paper Size & Alignment Page Issue
If the paper size was incorrectly set or skipped:
- Go to Settings > Preferences > Paper Setup and ensure it’s set to Letter (or your desired size).
- To manually trigger alignment:
- Load paper.
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
Use the HP Smart App
- Download the HP Smart App on your phone or PC.
- Open the app and tap “+” to add a new printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect via Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
