Hi @davec3433

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

This error can be frustrating, but it often points to a mismatch between the printer settings and the selected paper tray. Here are some steps to help resolve the issue:

Steps to Fix the Photo Tray Conflict

Verify Print Settings:

  • Open the application you're printing from (e.g., Photos, Adobe).
  • Go to Print Settings or Preferences.
  • Ensure the following settings match the photo tray configuration:
    • Paper Source: Select Photo Tray.
    • Paper Size: Choose the correct size (e.g., 4x6 or 5x7).
    • Paper Type: Select HP Photo Paper or the appropriate photo paper type.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Access the printer's control panel or Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer's IP address into a web browser.
  • Navigate to Settings > Paper Handling and ensure the photo tray is enabled and configured correctly.

Perform a Power Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can resolve temporary glitches.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support page for your printer model and download the latest drivers.
  • Install the updated drivers and restart your computer.

Test with Another Application:

  • Try printing from a different application to see if the issue persists. This can help identify whether the problem is software-related.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix any printer-related issues.
