Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I no longer have the OJ 6970.  It has been replaced.  However, a search of my system for anything contain "6970" finds the following --

C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 6970
C:\Program Files\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 6970
C:\ProgramData\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 6970
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 6970
C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 6970
C:\Windows\twain_32\HP OfficeJet Pro 6970
C:\ProgramData\HP\TEMP\HP%20OfficeJet%20Pro%206970
C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\HPOJ6970_Fax_Driver

Is there something I should do aside from deleting the folders that will get EVERYTHING off of my system that has any reference to the 6970?  I need to also get stuff out of the registry.  In other words, I'd like to get the system to the point as if the 6970 had never existed.

Hello @FS805 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

This procedure is not recommended!

Therefore proceed like this:

  1. the printer is no longer connected and is ready for recycling.
  2. right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Programs and Features"
uninstall all HP printer "Officejet 6970" software > via "Programs and Features"
  3. right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Devices and Printers"
In the "Devices and Printers" window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  4. Restart the PC
  5. Close all programs
  6. Change File-Explorer-Settings:View > Options > "Change folder and search options" > Tab "View"
    • enable > Show hidden files, folders and drives
    • uncheck > Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
    OK
  7. search for "HP [Officejet 6970]" and delete all this folders
  8. Empty the TEMP folders
    A) C:\Users\[Your user account]\AppData\Local\Temp\
    B) C:\Windows\Temp\
  9. system files cannot be deleted!
  10. Restart the PC

Important information:

Change back the File Explorer settings -
    • enable > Don`t show hidden files, folders or drives
    • click button > Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
    OK

I advise you not to delete anything in the registry. Unless you are very familiar with the registry!

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Unfortunately, there are not any entries to uninstall.  The OJ 6970 no longer shows up as an installed printer in the list of printers.

I vaguely recall that a few years ago, HP had some utilities that would remove all files associated with a particular product.  However, that was many years ago and it was product specific.

Any other suggestions?

Fred
