HP DeskJet Plus 4155 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

FINALLY successfully set up the printer on the desktop computer (WIN7 OS); print works, scan works.

Laptop running WIN10 won't install the printer. It sees the printer, I enter the pin (found on ink access door) Entered PIN at prompt but failed -- Message was, "Printer quit waiting. Try adding it again."  Attempted a few more times but was never quick enough. Tried again, beginning from locating the printer again and entering PIN at prompt but again the impatient printer "quit waiting."

What else can I do to enable printer from the laptop?

Do I need to install drivers in the laptop, too?

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting errors while printing, I am glad to assist you.

This seems to be a driver issue, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Uninstall and reinstall the printer driver to fix the issue:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install the printer using HP Smart app

Did you read my question? I said  I AM RUNNING WINDOWS 7  and the printer installed and ran OK on the WINDOWS 7 machine. I am not getting errors while printing.

Per your instructions, I uninstalled the printer and all the HP drivers, went to the link you provided and found that in order to run the AP I needed WINDOWS 10. The WINDOWS 7 machine is the primary computer in this network. The WIN10 laptop is a satellite device. It will not be the primary machine.

Once again, I have WINDOWS 7 running on the main, desktop computer and the laptop is running WINDOWS 10 and can NOT print from the laptop.

Before I waste another couple of hours re-installing and failing to be able to print on the laptop and return this printer is there ANYTHING to be done to be able to allow satellite devices to utilize the printer?

TIA
