Can I download software for desk get 2655 using my iPad?  I thought I read I could when I ordered it....thanks

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Are you connecting your iPad to the printer or your PC to the printer?

What is the operating system on PC?

If you wish to print from your iPad, you could print using Apple AirPrint or install HP Smart app

If you wish to connect your PC to printer, you could download printer drivers from HP website: www.hp.com/drivers

Trying to Connect iPad to printer . .can copy ok. Wireless shows turned on but printer not connected to network. 

Cant use hp smart. My iPad only 9.3

I understand the issue better now.

You can connect the printer with the iPad using Wi-Fi Direct:

1. Make sure the printer is turned on, in a ready state, and paper is loaded in the main input tray.

2. On the Apple device, open Settings, tap Wi-Fi and then tap the printer with DIRECT in the name (Example: DIRECT-72-HP Officejet Pro 6970) from the list of available networks.

3. If prompted for a password, type 12345678. This is the default password to log in.
