Hi @U-K-21,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you
When you're having trouble connecting your HP DeskJet 2320 to multiple devices (laptop, iPad, and phone), it's essential to approach the issue systematically to identify and resolve the problem. Here are some steps you can follow:
Check Printer Network Settings:
- First, ensure your printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network. Printers like the HP DeskJet 2320 typically have a network configuration page that you can print out from the printer's control panel. This page will show the current network settings, including the Wi-Fi network it's connected to.
Restart Your Devices:
- Sometimes, a simple restart of your printer, laptop, iPad, and phone can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off your printer and your devices, wait about a minute, and then turn them back on.
Ensure the Printer Is in Setup Mode:
- If you're connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network for the first time, ensure it's in setup or wireless setup mode. This mode is necessary for the printer to broadcast its network so that your devices can find and connect to it. Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to activate this mode.
Use HP Smart App:
- For the laptop and smartphone, make sure you're using the HP Smart app to attempt the connection. You mentioned waiting for the HP Smart app to find the printers without success. Ensure that both the printer and your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, firewalls and security settings can prevent the HP Smart app from discovering the printer. Try temporarily disabling these settings.
Check Wi-Fi Direct:
- If you're unable to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network, you might try using Wi-Fi Direct, a feature that allows you to connect your devices directly to the printer without a network. This can be a workaround for printing from your devices. The network configuration page printed earlier should indicate if Wi-Fi Direct is enabled and its settings.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. You might need to connect the printer to a computer using a USB cable to update the firmware. Check the HP website for specific instructions for your printer model.
Check IP Address Assignment:
- If your printer is connected to the Wi-Fi but not discoverable by your devices, it might be an IP address issue. Printers should generally be set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP). You can check this setting in the printer's network configuration page.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
