HP DeskJet 2721e All-in-One Printer

The printer receives a queue of print jobs (10-15 jobs). After a certain number of jobs have been printed, the print queue stops. It becomes impossible to print from any application that accesses the printer through MacOS. Restarting the print queue or deleting all jobs does not solve the problem. At the same time, I can print documents directly from the HP Smart application without any problems. I can print printer status reports or test documents downloaded through HP Smart. Removing the printer from the system and connecting it again solves the problem... For a while. Today I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer three times. Honestly, it's annoying. I have a vague feeling that buying any other printer would be a great solution. But while I haven't done this, are there any ideas on how this can be solved?

macOS Sonoma, latest printer drivers and firmware.

Hi @andrewpokora ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've encountered a persistent issue with your HP DeskJet 2721e All-In-One Printer on macOS Sonoma. Let's try some troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem:

Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your macOS Sonoma is up to date. Sometimes, software updates include fixes for printer-related issues.

Update Printer Drivers: Confirm that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website to download and install the most recent drivers compatible with macOS Sonoma.

Reset Printing System: Follow these steps to reset the printing system:

  • Open "System Preferences" on your Mac.
  • Select "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left side and choose "Reset printing system."
  • Confirm the action.
  • Re-add your printer afterward.

Remove and Re-add the Printer: Completely remove the printer from your system and then re-add it. To do this:

  • Open "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
  • Select your printer and click the '-' button to remove it.
  • Re-add the printer by clicking the '+' button and selecting your printer.

Check for Printer Software Conflicts: Ensure that there are no conflicting printer software or third-party printer management tools installed. Remove any unnecessary printer-related software.

Use a Generic Driver: Try using a generic or basic printer driver to see if the issue persists. This can help identify whether the problem is related to the specific driver.

Check System Logs: Examine the system logs for any error messages related to the printer. Open the "Console" application and look for logs under the "All Messages" section. Any error messages related to printing or the printer may provide clues.

You may continue using the HP Smart application for printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
