Hi @KGardens,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2820e All-in-One Printer is scanning and copying in color but not printing in color from your iMac, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the color ink cartridges in the printer have sufficient ink. Low ink levels can prevent the printer from printing in color even if it can scan and copy in color.

Print Settings:

  • Make sure that the print settings on your iMac are configured to print in color. Here’s how you can check:
    • Open the document or image you want to print.
    • Press Command + P to open the Print dialog.
    • Look for an option or dropdown menu labeled "Color" or "Color Options."
    • Select "Color" or "Color Printing" instead of "Black & White" or "Grayscale."

Printer Preferences:

  • Navigate to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP DeskJet 2820e from the list of printers.
  • Check the settings and preferences to ensure color printing is enabled.

Update Printer Drivers: Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet 2820e All-in-One Printer

  • Sometimes, outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing issues. Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website or through the Software Update feature on your Mac.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off your printer and iMac.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn them back on.
  • Try printing again to see if the issue is resolved.

Reset Printing System:

  • As a last resort, you can reset the printing system on your Mac. This will remove all printers and scanners from your list of devices.
    • Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left-hand side.
    • Choose "Reset printing system..." and confirm.
    • After resetting, re-add your HP DeskJet 2820e and try printing again.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure that your HP DeskJet 2820e has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve printing issues.

Thank you, Gaya1239. It was the removal of the printer and then reinstalling it that did the trick. Very good of you. Most gratefiul.
