Cannot print in color. Mac does not recognize my DeskJet 2820e as a color printer.

To resolve the issue of your HP DeskJet 2820e not printing in color and not being recognized as a color printer on your Mac, you can try the following steps.

 

Verify Printer Settings

Open System Preferences:

  • Click on the Apple menu and select "System Preferences."

Open Printers & Scanners:

  • Click on "Printers & Scanners."

Select Your Printer:

  • Select your HP DeskJet 2820e from the list of printers.

Check Color Settings:

  • Click on "Options & Supplies" and then go to the "Options" tab. Make sure color printing is enabled.

Update Printer Drivers

Download the Latest Driver:

  • Visit the HP Support Website and download the latest drivers and software for the HP DeskJet 2820e.

Install the Driver:

  • Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated driver.

Reset the Printing System

Open System Preferences:

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."

Reset Printing System:

  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select "Reset printing system..." This will remove all printers and reset the printing system.

Add Your Printer Again:

  • Click on the "+" button to add your printer back. Make sure to select the correct driver (HP DeskJet 2820e) from the list.

Check Print Settings in Applications

Print from an Application:

  • Open a document in any application (e.g., Preview, Microsoft Word).

Access Print Dialog:

  • Go to "File" > "Print."

Check Color Options:

Perform a Printer Reset

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and wait for about 60 seconds.

Reconnect and Turn On:

  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Firmware Update

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Go to the HP Support Website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.

Install Firmware Update:

  • Follow the instructions to download and install any available firmware updates.
